With the rapid development of the social economy as well as science and technology, the demand of talents has changed a lot. Those knowledgeable applied talents with the distinguished practical ability are in enterprises’good graces. The social development is always along with the revolution in the field of morality. It challenges the moral education in the colleges and universities, especially in the application-oriented universities. The comprehensive quality is closely related to the quality of applied talents. So it is very important and urgent to explore the effective pattern of moral education according to the population characteristic of the students in the application-oriented universities.This study, based on the principle of the unity of theory and practice, according to the relevant literature, defines the notion of undergraduate applied talents and makes a summary of the characteristics of moral education in the application-oriented universities. According to the theory of the moral education proposed by Dewey and the questionnaires from four universities in Anhui Province, following the successful experiences in Germany and Japan, the thesis makes a detailed analysis of the status quo of the talent cultivation in the application-oriented universities. It also makes a summary of the problems of the content, methods, the way of practice and the assessment mechanism of the moral education in the application-oriented universities. The author tries to elaborate the reasons from three levels, including the nation, the colleges and universities as well as educators. At last, the thesis is intended to put forward countermeasures compatible with the national conditions of China.Talents are related to the development of the nation. The moral education is related to the quality of talents. It is necessary to enhance the moral education in the application-oriented universities so as to meet the requirement of the moral quality of applied talents and cultivate the professionals.
