| Grammar, which is the foundation of learning English, helps to make the words and sentences. We cannot speak native English without grammar learning. Although today in primary school, teaching pattern, no matter oriented in listening or speaking, or emphasizes on the interest of English teaching, still lies on the foundation of English grammar. Based on the experiences gained from two months’ daily teaching activities in primary school attached to Central China Normal University and communications with excellent teachers there, this paper focuses on the current situation of grammar teaching and learning in primary school to reveal the problems of them and aims to find reasons. What’s more, according to these problems to raise some practical and feasible strategies and recommendations, The paper consists of the following four parts.The first part is viewed as the foundation of this paper, which covers four parts, including the background of the research, the contents of the research, the meanings of the research, and methods used in it,.The second part talks about overviews of the research. Starting from five aspects, the paper includes:firstly, the relevant concepts; secondly, the research summary at home and abroad; thirdly, theoretical basis; fourthly, the contents of English grammar teaching, which are mentioned and required in primary school; finally, the principles, which should be observed when teaching pupils. Those are to provide a sound basis of teaching and learning English grammar.The third part mainly focuses on the situation of English Grammar teaching in primary school. Through analyzing questionnaire and teacher interview. The paper summarizes the achievements, which have been greatly got nowadays. Meanwhile, it also analyzes the problems that have put forward and give some practical and concrete advice on the basis of the problems by teachers’interviewing and class observation.The last part, it is the key part in this paper. largely discusses the teaching strategies to absorb more teaching experiences for myself, improves English teachers’teaching abilities in primary school, and also provides teachers more recommendations and advice on grammar teaching. |
