The NO.1 High School of Yuanyang County, which the author had worked for 3 years, introduced "6+1" class mode into English teaching. This class mode transforms main participants in learning from teachers to students and inspires students’independent learning capability. However, with the development of this class mode in our school, the teaching and learning process gradually became rigid imitation and the class effect was unsatisfied. Based on this situation, the author began to study on the application of task-based approach on "6+1"English class.By adopting the search methods such as the questionnaire method and interviewing method, The author analyzed the main problems in the 6+1 English class such as the inappropriate difficulty of learning tasks in text teaching, the disordered process of task completing in reading lesson,the formalistic task mode in composition lesson and the inflexible comprehension of 6+1 class mode. The author takes two classes of NO.1 High School in Yuanyang County as the objects of research for one semester. After the experiment, by comparing the final examination scores with the first semester and analyzed the result, we found the statistics proved that the task-based approach could not only improve the basic knowledge of English but also develop their confidence and enthusiasm towards English learning, promoting the teaching skill of the teachers. The study results demonstrate that the task-based approach has positive effect in improving the learning efficiency of students.
