| The purpose of this research is to explain the relationship between learners and MOOCs. Context:Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) has greatly improved the teaching quality, because of its high quality subjects’resources and non-forming learning model, and bring challenges and opportunities for higher education. Method: On the basis of the theory of network learning, informal learning, innovation diffusion and Technology Acceptance Model (UTATA), using qualitative research and extend the case study method, I investigated 15 persons from Chinese University, who are my classmates on MOOC platforms. Questions:I mainly discussed why college students learn MOOC, is Learning MOOC a rational choice for college students, which factors influence students’acceptance and learning of MOOCs, how do they learn MOOC. Results:On the basis of these surveys, I find some factors which play a critical role on students’Acceptance and Learning of MOOCs, and that MOOC can not only be the method of formal learning, but also the method of non-formal learning. Therefore, I explained the concept of MOOC learning style. MOOC users decide the participation and learning of the MOOCs based on their diverse motivation and backgrounds. Conclusions:On the basis of investigation of the cases and the author’s participation and observation of MOOC learning activities, I find that,1. The MOOC learning style of College Students can be defined into three basic dimensions:learning method, expansion path of learning and learning form. with the difference of this 3 dimensions, MOOC learners show them different learning behaviors.2. MOOC has been accepted and spread by more and more domestic and foreign learners in a short time and MOOC will further squeeze the traditional class time, but it will not replace the traditional curriculum.3. At present, some of the MOOC practice in the University of our country make a bad effect on student’acceptance of MOOC, for example students have to retake a course after failing to pass examination, but they can only use MOOC because of the School regulations. This will cause bad social image.4. Innovative features (usefulness, ease of use); individual characteristics (compatibility); institutional factors; social factors (subjective norms, peer factors) affect the college students’acceptance of MOOC, and Passing one MOOC don’t mean a student accept MOOC.5. Formal learning and non-formal learning are not two opposite ways of learning, even though in the same study subject there are two kinds of coexistence and transformation of learning styles. MOOC has to enhance personalized learning and engages learners in continuous dialogue, interaction and reaction, in order to develop sustainably. |
