“School-enterprise cooperation” is the mainstream training mode admired and implemented in the current field of vocation education. The education mode can optimize the resource allocation of enterprises and schools and connect the advantages of schools and enterprises to the fullest to form complementation, following the win-win cooperative principle to concentrate the joint forces of enterprises and schools and promote the quality of vocational education. The paper holds the opinion that under the background of school-enterprise cooperation, engineering schools of higher vocational specialties should demand student to combine the application of specialties they learn at school with enterprises actively while making graduation designs. In this way, the theoretical knowledge students learn at school can be practiced and utilized to the fullest. Only in this way can the aim of schools demanding students to submit graduation designs be achieved and can students’ practical abilities be promoted actually. Being a kind of new-type educational concept at present, it makes up for the deficiencies in times development and satisfies social requirements for talents and it has become not only an important way to promote vocational education and cultivate quality but a tendency of reformation and development for vocational education. At present, Chinese talent markets are seriously short of professional skill-based talents, for which the main reason is that the educational concept of institutions of higher learning falls behind, without realizing the importance of combining educational theories and practice. It results in the fact that the talents cultivated are totally unaccustomed to the requirement of social development and that their specialty only remains on theory, while their practical operation level is far from the requirement of enterprises. Therefore, if we are to cultivate a batch of new-type talents appropriate for social development, we must accelerate the reformation of the current education mode and realize the genuine cooperation between schools and applicable units, thus guaranteeing the quality of students’ graduation designs.According to the discussion above, the paper mainly analyzes what problems the graduation designs in institutes of higher learning, especially the graduation designs of engineering institutes of higher learning, will encounter in practical operations, as well as the ways of solving the problems. In addition, it makes a systematic exposition of the implementation of school-enterprise cooperation in common higher vocational schools. We discover by means of our practical investigation, that compared with the former education mode dominated by pure school theories, the new-type education mode promoted at present has more significant teaching effects. By means of the organic combination between schools and applicable units, students enhance their practical operation level based on the mastery of professional theories. What’s more, they are more appropriate for the requirements of employing units and can satisfy the development requirements of modern society. In addition, students can perfect the relationship between schools and enterprises during the process of graduation design, promote gradual deepening of school-enterprise cooperation and accelerate students’ melting into enterprises. The implementation of “the mode of school-enterprise cooperation graduation design” is of important influence on the deep-level cooperation between enterprises and schools. The paper elaborates systematically the main characteristics and applicability of the new-type education link, “school-enterprise cooperation graduation design”. In the practicable application of the mode, “school-enterprise cooperation”, students serve as the subject of the graduation design, who must devote themselves to the practice of employing units. Besides, the successful development of the “school-enterprise cooperation” mode is also inseparable from the energetic support of employing units. Therefore, the enthusiasm and positivity of employing units should be stimulated adequately. Graduation designs can’t separate from the educational background of “school-enterprise cooperation” from topic selection to the end. Bring the effect of “school-enterprise cooperation” into full play and consider the benefits of enterprises conscientiously. Simultaneously realize the educational purpose of schools and have “union between schools and enterprises, common guidance, rich connotation and outstanding characteristics” as the basic guidelines and realize the fundamental purposes of graduation designs authentically.
