| This thesis focuses on the world top golfers’competitive performance, the analyzes are based on the bases of the 2015 four Majors. By communicating with the players, coaches and commentators, this thesis analyzes the factors which influence the golfers’competitive performance. Through literature review, comparing analysis and statistics methods, this paper obtains the following conclusions:1. Technique stats (Driving distance, Fairway hits, Regular on the Green, Average put) are not a single factor when people analyze the relation between technique stats and golfer’s competitive performance.2. For the top level golfer, further driving distance will raise the ability of reducing score in Par 4 and Par 5. The paper compare the top 10 driver with the following 10 players and find out that the top 10 driver get 0.26 more eagles and 0.58 more birdies in a tournament.3. By analyzing the stats, this paper proves that the more fairway hits the higher score of Par4. (r=-0.77) Because the golfers who drive the ball shorter leave a longer distance to the green even though they hit more fairways.4. Regular on is a important factor of the competitive performance for the top golfer. Regular on should be analyzed with Average put when we talking about the influence of the golfers’competitive performance. The more Regular on and less average put, the lower score the players will hit. (r= 0.8)5. Par4 is the most importance type of hole to distinguish the players’ performance even through the Par 5 hole contributes most birdies and eagles in the tournament. By the example of Jordan Speith, this paper highlights the importance the importance of the Par4 and Par3’s for the golfers’competitive performance6. In the top golfers’level, eagles and worse score of the hole is not a key factor for the competitive performance. |
