| Based on theory of Competence, this study intends to establish primary school physical education teachers’ competency model by using Checklist method and Behavioral Event Interview method. To better understand the thesis, it is highly recommended to present the organization of this paper which falls into four steps:Step 1:By reading the previous literature, combing with the BEI method, this study extracted competence characteristics vocabularies to establish the final primary school PE teachers’ competence Checklist.Step2:Behavioral event interview method on 21 on-the-job primary school physical education teachers, this study selected 14 as subjects for the final text analysis. In order to select the final competence characteristics vocabularies for competence dictionary compiling, this study has delivered 104 Checklists to 104 on-the-job elementary school physical education teachers.Step 3:Record to transcript. Using competency dictionary to analyze and code text, this study eventually established the competence model for primary school physical education teachers.Step 4:Compared with other teachers’ competency model, this study intended to analyze consistencies and differences between this study and former literatures, and then tried to give an explanation.Conclusion:1. Model of this study contains 8 characteristics that excellent teachers have, such as professional knowledge, teaching art, teaching methods, reflective ability and so on. Model of this study contains 14 characteristics that all primary school PE teachers have, such as ability to organize and management, confidence, technical expertise, responsibility, team work and capability of adapting oneself to etc.2. Compared with previous study, primary school physical education teachers’ competency model in this paper has consistency with former study but the specific competence characteristics are different.3. When carries on the competency model construction of elementary school physical education teachers, using the classic behavioral event interview method, and at the same time, combining the methods of other disciplines, with a comprehensive modeling method will be better. |
