Shen Zhongjiu is Chinese teaching reformers and Chinese education reformers in early twentieth Century. He was in the early stage of the development of modern Chinese education in our country, and actively engaged in the reform of Chinese teaching, especially put forward many constructive opinions in the reform of Chinese language teaching of secondary schools. He designed the vernacular teaching program and provided many remarkable fresh things in the history of Chinese teaching, which provided him an important position in the history of education in the Republic of China. However, the discussion and research of Chinese teaching thought of Shen Zhongjiu is almost blank in academic circles. Therefore, this paper want to systematically describe the ideas of him about Chinese teaching reforms, and summarize the significance of current Chinese education through his ideas.In order to solve the problems existing in middle school Chinese language teaching, Shen Zhongjiu discussed Chinese teaching objective, teaching materials and teaching methods and so on. What’s more, to the dispute of classical language and vernacular language, he strongly advocated vernacular teaching in junior high school, and proposed many constructive advices on Chinese textbook writing, Chinese teaching. In this paper, we aim at to discuss and analyze his reforming thought in Chinese teaching of middle school about his comment on the dispute of classical Chinese and vernacular Chinese in teaching reform, the comment on middle school written textbook, the comment on the teaching methods, and the comment on modern significance of his thought in Chinese language education and so on.In the first chapter, "Shen Zhongjiu discuss the dispute on classical language versus vernacular language" mainly discuss from vernacular Chinese teaching of middle school advocated by Shen Zhongjiu, the comment on the opinion which the middle school students are required to develop reading ability of ancient books and the opinion which the literature education is not equal to Sinology education. In the second chapter, "Shen Zhongjiu discuss the middle school Chinese textbook "mainly discuss the advice about Chinese language textbooks from the standard of textbooks, the selection of the content and the arrangement of ideas and so on. In the third chapter, "Shen Zhongjiu discuss junior middle school Chinese teaching method "research is focused on from the aspects of the "problem" teaching, "Dalton " teaching," the unity of content and form ". In chapter four, "the enlightenment on Chinese teaching thought of Shen Zhongjiu" will discuss Shen Zhongjiu Chinese education thought about the significance in four aspects to present Chinese language education.
