The disabled people are labeled “Second-Class Citizen” because of their physical disability or mental handicap whether the disability happened when they were born or when they got some diseases. The disabled are becoming marginalized group because of external social exclusion and their inner self-contempt, so they are known as vulnerable group. However, they hope they can join social life, use social resources and share social wealth with majority fairly. They really need a good humanistic environment to be accepted by others and they can integrate into social life. Disabled children are the more vulnerable group. In the course of their educations, they not only suffer from their disabilities, but also are sneered, are despised, and are excluded by their peer group, which makes them more self-abasement and their classmate relationship estranged. They really have a bad classmate environment. It gives more pressure on their rehabilitation of education. It also gives social workers a question: how to improve the classmate environment of disabled children by using the professional methods. It is important for disabled children to have a good classmate environment. A good classmate environment will enforce their sensors of self-identity and pave a way to integrate into social life in the future.A social worker simply studied the classmates environment of disabled children, using Group Work, one of professional methods of Social Work. Children from a welfare house in X Town and children from a boarding school in XX Town were participants. The method used for the study included in-depth interview of some children, field observation, and questionnaire survey of attitudes and behaviors of ordinary children to disabled children. The conclusions are: 1.Ordinary children have lower acceptance to disabled children in regular school, and the classmates environment of disabled children is bad; compared with girls, boys accept disabled children in a lower degree; older children exclude disabled children much more than what younger children do. 2. Disabled children have a better classmates environment in the boarding school. 3. In general, the classmates environment of disabled children is not good and it really needs a social work to intervene in.A social worker explored some ways to improve classmates environment of disabled through using professional methods(Group Work) and intervening skills(Behavioral Therapy Model, Psychotherapy Pattern, and Person-Centered Therapy Approach). There were three Group Works such as “Aixin” group, “Yangguang” group and “Shou-La-Shou” group in intervening ways. These ways really improve classmate environment of disabled children to some extent, based above study. At last, the researcher gives some suggestions to help disabled children to build a good classmate environment. The study will provide some evidences for studying psychology of disabled children and pave a way for their social integration.
