Although the English listening is the essential part of foreign language learning,we often ignore its importance. However, with the development of the foreign language teaching theories and researches, as well as the social requirement of advanced people, people have realized the importance of listening in the foreign language learning. Therefore, in terms of reforming the English teaching model and improving senior high school students’ listening proficiency, some researchers and foreign language teachers have begun to focus on and discuss it. Throughout the relevant researches at home and board, scholars from different research fields have made a lot of researches about meta-cognitive strategies. However, for the research fields, the studies are main about the aspects of English vocabulary, reading and writing. There are few studies about English listening. In addition, for the research subjects, the researches have regarded the adult students, the college English major and non-English major students and students in higher vocational colleges. There are hardly studies about meta-cognitive strategies training in English listening for middle school students especially senior high school students.This research intends to find the influence of senior high school students’ English listening comprehension on the empirical study method. This research chooses two parallel classes students which are from No. 4 senior high school in Gong Yi, He Nan Province. There are one hundred and twenty one students in all to participate in the four-month English listening study in the foundation of the meta-cognitive strategies training. This program is designed to deal with three questions. The first is whether there are differences in the students’ situations of using the meta-cognitive strategies after the training. The second is whether there are differences among the different sexuality after the training. The third is what are the general differences in relation to English listening comprehension ability among different levels learners of the experimental group after the training.During this research, the teacher teaches the listening comprehension to studentsfrom fours aspects, including cultivating students meta-cognitive awareness, planning and managing the study, monitoring and evaluating behavior. At the beginning of the training, the researcher teaches students the meta-cognitive knowledge and the relevant theories of meta-cognitive strategies. What’s more, the researcher makes the students apply the three aspects of meta-cognitive strategy respectively to the three class segments of pre-listening, while-listening and post-listening as well as giving the students class teaching training of meta-cognitive strategies.Data analysis shows that the meta-cognitive strategies training in students’ listening can improve students listening comprehension effectively. Besides, it helps the students to form the correct language concept and systematic study idea. The ultimate purpose is to improve the English listening competence and develop the awareness and ability of autonomic learning.
