| As a basic language skill, writing plays a very important role in English teaching. However, there are m any problems that exist in students’ English writing. From the need analysis done b efore the study, it can be seen that traditional Product Writing Approach neither arouse students interest s in writing nor enhance their writing competence, they need to improve their writing skills and expect to get h elp from the teacher. National English Curriculum Standards for Common Senior High School(2003) also enhance the requirement of English writing, so improving the teaching of writing is significantly urgent.Based on Krashen’ s theory of language acquisition and Flower and Hayes’ cognitive process writin g theory, the study attempts to introduce Process W riting Approach to senior high school and em ploys corresponding pro cedures in writing class with the purpose of verifying whet her applying Process Writing Approach can promote students’ perception of writing and enhances their writing proficiency.The researcher carried out a four-month experiment at Liaoning Province Shiyan High School. Subjects of the experim ent are 95 students from Grade One. Class five was chosen as the experimental class and Class one was regarded as the control class respectively. Product Writing Approach will be used in the control class, while in the experimental class, the teacher adop ts Process Writing Approach, with procedures of pre-wring activities, outlining, drafting, fee dback and revising. In order to find out effects of Process W riting Approach, three instrum ents have been e mployed in the research: questionnaires, tests and an interview. The research question of the study i s to verify ef fects on subjects’ perception of English writing a nd subjects’ writing proficiency of Process Writing Approach.By analyzing the results of the que stionnaire and interview, it can be concluded that Process Writing Approach has positive effects on students’ perception of writing. The figures acquired from the final score of students also show that Process Writing Approach is more conductive to improve the proficiency of English writing.All in all, Process W riting Approach provides a better teaching m ethod in writing teaching, which enables stu dents to be interested in writing and realize the significance of processes of writing, and ultimately achieves the final goal of promoting students’ output production of language. |
