In 2012, Zhejiang Province issued policies to deepen the curriculum reform in high schools. In the new round of curriculum reform, the requirement of credits of optional courses is higher than before. And it is essential and necessary for high schools to develop school-based optional courses. To develop school-based optional courses better, a website providing online courses has been built. Now there are 58 chemical optional courses in total, including 40 courses of knowledge enlargement,6 courses of professional skills,12 courses of interests and 2 courses of integrated practice.By now we’ve got many courses introducing fruit. However, among them, few courses are about teaching students local product fruits from chemical perspective. So the development of school-based course Knowledge of Muwu Loquat from chemical perspective with regional characteristics is of great significance. It can offer a good course sample of this kind and enrich school-based curriculum sources.The basic framework of this paper includes five chapters. The first chapter introduces the background, the methods, meaning of the research and definitions of different courses. The second chapter introduces related researches on optional courses and school-based curriculum home and abroad. It also summarizes the achievement and shortage of chemical school-based curriculum development. The third chapter and fourth chapter are the most important part of the paper. This part shows the development of school-based course Knowledge of Muwu Loquat from chemical perspective. First, it did a survey to analyze possibility and feasibility of carrying out the optional course. Then, it shows the process of the optional course Knowledge of Muwu Loquat from chemical perspective in No.5 High School in Lanxi, Zhejiang, focusing on course objectives, course principles, teaching strategies and course evaluation criteria. The fifth chapter is reflection on the optional course, concluding achievements and existing problems of the course.
