Middle school students are the builders and successors of our country’s future. Middle school students’ sense social responsibility of middle school students will directly affect the development and construction of the country in the future.But through the investigation, we find that some of today’s middle school students’ sense of social responsibility is generally weak, and geography teaching in middle school also doesn’t do well in assuming the responsibility of cultivating students’ social responsibility because of factors like social environment and current students’ characteristics of the physical and mental development. To improve the cultivation of middle school students’ social responsibility sense has the significance to help students establish sound personalities and subject consciousnesses, promote the overall development of the students’ body and mind, and cultivate responsible and good citizens who has sense of social responsibility for country’s development. Meanwhile, it is an important task which the school’s ideological and political work is facing with.There are many methods to cultivate the middle students’ sense of social responsibility, and it’s every educator’s obligatory to bring them into his own work area. Since the reform of geography new curriculum in junior high school, the cultivation of students’ sense of social responsibility has become one of the primary goals of geography teaching in middle school. Geography education has its own advantages and characteristics in cultivating students’ sense of social responsibility. Students can not only obtain basic geographic literacy and geographic learning ability, but also can gradually form their life attitudes and values through internalization of knowledge. Thus, to cultivate students’ sense of responsibility in middle school’s geography teaching is duty-bond for us geography teachers.This paper discusses the current meanings of the research through expounding the concept of social responsibility and its related concepts; at the same time, through the investigation and analysisdagpaper analyze reasons for the problems existing in cultivating students’ social responsibility of geography teaching, trying provide a method which combines the theory with practice to improve middle school students’ social responsibility sense. The research is trying to provide the content for the cultivating of students’ social responsibility in middle school’s geography teaching and form a framework of applying methods.
