Research And Application On Algorithm Of Course Recommendation System

With the popularization of elective courses in Colleges and universities, education has gradually adopted the network and information technology, in the era of information, the progress of selecting courses has used network naturally. But deeply affected by academic year system and traditional ideas, the contemporary course selection system has not been perfect yet. Meanwhile, the function of the elective system embodied in the new teaching ideas and cultivating creative talents of high quality aspects, also did not fully play out, therefore, to establish a set of perfect learning recommendation system in today’s colleges and universities is very important.Although recommendation technology in many fields especially in the field of electronic commerce has developed successfully, however, in the field of research on course recommendation, research is very rare in academia. Especially in China, the related research is few. It is in such a background, this paper carried out the research and application of the algorithm of course recommendation.Although the algorithm of course recommendation based on Collaborative Filtering and the algorithm of course recommendation based on hybrid model have emerged in the aspect of course recommendation, which are not adapted to course recommendation, having several shortcomings below:firstly, the two algorithms have no practical feasibility, which the data dimension of the course selection system cannot afford; secondly, the two algorithms all need a large number of historical data about students, which is difficult for students who just have three years or four years’ courses; lastly, the two algorithms need portrait for students through their historical data, which is meaningless for the students in the same academy or major.Based on the algorithm above for these problems, this paper proposed the algorithm of course recommendation based on neural network theory, which has overcome the shortcomings of the algorithms above, and the proposed algorithm considered the correlation among curriculum for students and students’ interest, with a strong feasibility.Finally, this paper realized an easy system of course selection, which the algorithm of course recommendation proposed by this paper was applied in.
