English writing plays an important role in English learning and writing can fully reflect students’ comprehensive ability to use English. Therefore, English writing plays an important role in writing teaching. However, from the perspective of high school English teaching, the teaching practices for English writing do not get enough attention and the teaching effect is not very good, which make the students’ writing ability generally low. So, improving the English writing teaching is a problem to be solved urgently both for teachers and students.Schema theory has made great breakthroughs in solving language teaching by consulting the literature, which has been widely applied to the teaching of reading and listening and gradually to writing. In order to better solve the problems of the poor writing skills and low writing teaching efficiency, this thesis will research the application of schema theory in high school English teaching according to the new curriculum standards.In this thesis, the research analysis techniques will use literature study,questionnaire method and experimental research method. The paper will analyze the current situation of Chinese High School English writing, and then it will use schema theory to solve these problems. Schema theory can be applied to English writing which will be the important part of the thesis, which can activate students’ knowledge of the language, construct text structure knowledge and improve the writing ability of students.The thesis is mainly composed of six parts:In the first part, it refers to the introduction of research background and significance of research objectives and content.In the second part, it is about generalization of the different researchers’ research results in English writing and schema theory research.In the third part, it will introduce some research theories related the thesis,elaborate the Input Output Hypothesis, generalize the concept and function of schema theory, list the three type of schema theory and introduce some professional knowledgerelated to English writing.In the forth part, it mainly talks about the situation of English writing teaching under the new curriculum, trying find out the writing problems from the perspective of students and teachers. Then, the thesis will analyze the reason and solve the problems.At the same time, the thesis also elaborates the relationship between schema theory and English writing and the new curriculum, which will provide help to improve English writing teaching.In the fifth part, this part is about the experiment. It is also the most important part of the thesis. Find the factors which influence the students’ writing ability by doing some questionnaires. This part elaborates the aim, subjects, time, and steps and so on.After the experiment, by analyzing the test results and data, it will verify the feasibility of schema theory in English writing, contributing to the improvement of the students’ writing ability and achieve the goal of the new curriculum.In the sixth part, it is about the revelations of the experiment. We can solve the students’ and teachers’ problems by using schema theory. At last, it is a brief conclusion of the thesis and some shortages of the research and the thesis will make some future prospects for the further research.The innovation of the thesis is that the new curriculum standards combine with schema theory, focusing on the new curriculum standards, which will guide the English writing teaching effectively. The new high school English curriculum standards stress that students must have a solid basic skills and language proficiency of the language. So we can build a platform by using different forms of schema theory, such as, using linguistic schemata to activate the language knowledge and skills, using cultural schemata to increase the cultural awareness, which will improve the writing level gradually.
