Currently, great changes and major adjustments have been undertaken in the world, including the emergence of multipolar world, in-depth development of economic globalization, science and technology that is moving fast, and intense competition for talents. All of them also lead to the continuous change of higher education with social change. In an era of all-round development, there should be talents of all-round development. Accordingly, all-round development of talents requires the higher education in China to constantly explore new approaches and methods of talents training so as to adapt to the era of profound change and meet the diversified requirements for talents.This paper launches a study by analyzing from the status quo, educational aims, educational objectives, educational approaches, and the system of educational objectives of holistic education and combining the Party’s educational policies and studies on all-round development of human in China and clarifying the deficiencies in education as well as the approaches of the comprehensive development of education of universities.This paper consists of six chapters. The first chapter is introduction on aims, significance, current research, methods and main content of holistic education. The second chapter elaborates the concept of holistic education and explains how it was put forward, its changes in the historical development and the difference and relation between educational objectives and university education objectives, and between educational aims and university educational aims. The third chapter describes the relation between Party’s education policies, the objectives and aims of university holistic education. The fourth chapter shows the status quo of our university talents training through the relations among educational objectives, general education and quality-oriented education. The fifth chapter is about the establishment and implementation of the system of macro, micro and individual objectives of holistic education, in which individual objectives of university students are explained in detail, involving value, health, academics, career and life. The sixth chapter lists five approaches of the holistic education of university students:theoretical education, educational practice, campus culture, educational management, family education, which are complementary and indispensable.Holistic education as the common objective of human society will change with ever-changing social development.
