Textbook is the core teaching material in a curriculum as well as the main resources and tool for teaching. Since 2011, based on the new “ full-time compulsory education” English curriculum standards(2011 edition), the foreign language study press revised new standard English teaching materials. Primary schools of city Urumqi use this set of textbooks started in 2013, which is now in the stage of adaptation. Urumqi is a city with diverse cultures that is a multi-ethnic populated city which has 47 minorities and 68 bilingual primary schools. How is t he situation of the newly revised textbook’s adaption in Urumqi Bilingual Primary School? Whether it Bilingual Primary School’ teachers and students can adapt to this set of textbooks? How do the Minority and Han teachers and students adapt to this set of textbooks? The adaptability evaluation study of teaching material is conducive to the development of English subject in ethnic minority areas and has important practical significance to make sure the English teaching in Bilingual Primary School going on smoothly. This study aims to understand the situation of the adaption of the new teaching material in Urumqi Bilingual Primary School, to explore the minority and Han teachers and students’ degree of adaption to the new teaching material of different reasons, to put forward some opinions and suggestions, for the textbook editors and users, so as to further improve the adaptability of the teaching material in Xinjiang Urumqi. By doing some research on the Bilingual Primary School teachers and students’ adaptive feedback to the teaching material, we can do some investigation and do analysis of the adaptability to the new teaching material in Urumqi Bilingual Primary School.This paper takes the researching method, such as literature review, questionnaire and interview method. It sets the content of the five dimensions which include the curriculum standard, student development, teachers’ level, resources and environment, on the basis of the related research results. Based on a certain sample of reliability and validity of the questionnaire, finally the research questionnaire of the “new standard English” adaptability evaluation can come out. In order to guarantee the validity of the sample, the questionnaire distributed respectively on types of school. According to some questions, we explored further discussion.The core conclusions of this study are that teachers and students evaluate the new English books well in the Bilingual Primary School in Urumqi C ity; There is no diverse adaptability to the new English book among different nationalities’ and ages’ teachers; The new English book can be adapted by different levels for all of the students come from Bilingual Primary School as a whole; There are significant differences among teachers in the types of school environment on the adaptation of new English books; In the aspect of teachers’ level and students’ development Han students evaluate well; In the aspect of students’ development the girls evaluate well. In short, according to the study, we have to put forward three important suggestions to the teaching material in order to provide references for the editors, we persuade them that an arrangement of the grammar system needs to be reduced the difficulty; the integration of teaching content needs to be increased the quality of language material. For the department of education, we need to realize the places in the same conditions as Urumqi can be followed the success of the teaching materials in Urumqi; Realize the resources sharing of the different levels of schools; To our teachers, There are three suggestions, such as, Enhancing the analysis of the demands of the students and paying more attention to the minority students and boys; Paying attention to the strategies, in order to strengthen students’ practical experience; We need to enhance the interpretation and understanding of teachers to the new English book, with the aim of realizing the biggest difference.
