The era of globalization has already come. As one of the most widely used languages in the world, mastering English is the basic skill of modern social talents.In our country, English is not only oriented as a foreign language, but also as an important subject in our basic education. With the implementation of new English Curriculum Standard in Senior High School, the emphasis of English classroom teaching transforms, step by step, from the unattractive one-direction knowledge teaching mode to the bidirectional communicative mode. And the teacher-student interaction in classroom means that a teacher and students, in class, communicate with each other, influence each other, interact enthusiastically and communicate actively.In this way, the teacher and students can improve their knowledge and promote emotions. Furthermore,in actual English classroom, how does the teacher interact with the students? What are the problems in the teacher-student interaction? What may affect the teacher-student classroom interaction? The author does this study with all these questions.This study is undertaken in senior high schools. In order to get a relatively overall understanding of teacher-student interaction in English teaching, the author studies two grades in two senior high schools in Changji. The two schools at different levels have their own teacher resources and student resources. The author hopes to grasp information of the teacher-student interaction in senior high schools of different levels. To receive enough data, the author researches in the following way: firstly, the author chooses each two classes in Grade One and Grade Two in either school and gives out questionnaires to 412 students totally in two schools. The aim of questionnaires is to understand teacher-student interaction from the students’ views.Moreover, the author interviews 8 English teachers in the two senior high schools.The author hopes to know the teachers’ attitudes towards teacher-student interaction and the current situation of teacher-student interaction in senior high schools. At last,the author takes part in a series of classroom observations in these eight classes.Among the observed classes, the author chooses 16 classes to make the data analyses.Then the author finds that in senior high school English classes, teachers would like to use T-S type more than other types. As to the content of teacher-student interaction,teachers prefer utilizing verbal interaction to motivating students’ interest in learning English than non-verbal interaction. Finally, the author concludes and summarizes thefactors that affect the teacher-student interaction and proposes the problems of teacher-student interaction patterns in senior high schools English classroom teaching.Meanwhile, based on the results of study, the author puts forward some suggestions on promoting teacher-student interaction patterns and tries to provide some help in teacher-student interaction in English classroom teaching in senior high school.What’s more, the author addresses to establish some clear interactive consciousness in teachers and students and build up a favorable and harmonious kind of English classroom teaching atmosphere.
