Nowadays, the world has changed rapidly and the speed of updating our knowledge has accelerated. What we need is a life long learning.------“never too late to learn”, English as one of the most important international language. It has become the necessary tool for people to understand the world and communicate with each other.In the secondary school, all students should lay a good foundation in English, as “ the compound talents expert”. However, at present, the students lack planning in English autonomous learning, they lack persistence in English autonomous learning process,they lack effectiveness in autonomous learning evaluation.so their learning effect is not good and their learning motivation is not strong. As a secondary school teacher and leadership, how to develop and improve the problems of secondary vocational school students English autonomous learning management has become an urgent problem to solve.Expectancy value theory is one of the most important theory of students learning motivation, it includes ability beliefs, expectancy for success and task value. In the view of Expectancy value theory open up the new perspective in autonomous learning management of English study of secondary vocational school students. Based on the questionnaire and the observation, we learned the present situation of English learning in three secondary vocational school students, we also analyzed the relationship between ability beliefs, expectation of success,task value and the various elements of autonomous learning management.At the same time, we tested how the Expectancy-value worked inin the secondary vocational student’s English autonomous learning management. The study found: In correlation analysis, expectancy value theory with the vocational students learning management was significantly related. Successful expectations affect autonomous English learning plan management and persistence; Ability beliefs affect initiative and effort of English autonomous learning management;The biggest influence on autonomous learning management is task value.According to the influence of the size : Attainment value, intrinsic value, Utility value. It affects directly the student’s choice of learning tasks, perseverance and effort.However,expectancy for success in the vocational students learning management is weak,their ability beliefs is low,as for their task value: we can’t see the importance of English learning,they don’t attach the importance to the practically of English, they also are not interested in learning English.In view of this, combined with the expectancy value theory of self-regulated learning management influence on English,we try to improve the secondary vocational school students English autonomous learning management strategies from the aspects of vocational students themselves, teachers and school leaders put forward a series of proposals : To improve the students’ understanding of English task value, we can strengthen the professional English of secondary school;we can enhance the ability of the secondary vocational student’s English learning beliefs through cooperate learning;using the hierarchical teaching method, we can improve the students’ English learning success expectation. I hope to improve autonomous learning management research from the perspective of expectancy value theory, but also hope that the broad masses of teachers and students can improve students’ autonomous learning management strategy in English learning.
