Since the reform and opening up in China, the mobility of our population has become increasingly active, with the rapid economic development and urbanization. Therefore, a large number of farmers who crowded into the cities to work and do business, became a special group in the period of social transition.Since the 1990 s, the number of migrant workers has constantly grown, and its composition has changed significantly too. As a result, the migration way of the farmers changed from "going out alone" or "going out in groups" to "family migration". At the same time, more and more migrant workers’ children lived and studied in the cities, which led to the educational problems.These so-called new citizen children studied in the city, which not only chanllenged the Urumqi government but also brought a lot of pressure for the school at the free education stage. Therefore, paying attention to and solving the educational problems of the children is not an important task for Urumqi municipal education departments and schools, but also an objective requirement to accelerate the process of urbanization in Urumqi.As a matter of fact, solving the problems has very important practical significance to build the harmonious society, put into force the strategy of rejuvenating the country through science and education, and promote the balanced development of compulsory education and educational fairness in Urumqi.Basing on the educational problems of children of new citizens, this paper will discuss the topic from four aspects as followed.The first part summarizes the basic theory and connotation of the education of new citizen children including the definition of urbanization, new citizen and the significance of the research on the education of the new citizen children.The second part demonstrates the relevant circumstances of new citizens and their children in New Urban District Tianjin Street community of Urumqi by the questionnaire analysis and interview, which concluds present new citizens and the children’s education.The third part, basing on the analysis of the present situation, discusses the existing problems in the education of the new citizens’ children from multiple perspectives, to find outthe reasons of the problems existed in the education system, society, school, and family.According to the analysis of the reasons of new citizens children’s education problems,the fourth part puts forward the practical and effective countermeasures and suggestions combined with the actual research.
