With the English curriculum reform’s development, more and more English textbook versions are published. Although the textbooks are in strict accordance with the requirements of English Curriculum Standard between different versions, there are still many problems of textbooks’ transition in content arrangement, unit design, the words etc. The literature on the transition of English teaching in primary and secondary schools throughout the domestic and international, most are of interest in students’ learning habits and psychology, teachers’ teaching methods and teaching contents. But few research focuses on comparative analysis of textbook version based on the differences between primary and secondary school English teaching engagement.The problem of primary and secondary school transition of English teaching has been on for a long time, and teaching material’s shortcoming makes it worse. Material is the basis for English teaching. So if the textbook is well matched, students will adapt their higher grade naturally and their learning effect will be good, which can solve the problem of students’ inefficient learning in the vocabulary, grammar or topic. Also, it not only can help teachers and students from primary school to junior high school’s transition better but also be benefit on the English teaching systematicness and continuity, which will also have a positive impact on English Teaching for both stages’ work.Therefore, this research takes Grade One students and teachers in the questionnaire and interviews, who are in Yifu Middle School in Tianshui city, Gansu Province. The investigation includes students English learning information, learning attitude and habits and interview questions for teachers are cohesion of English Teaching and contrast of English textbooks in primary school and junior high school. Then it analyses the differences between English textbooks from Shannxi Tourism Publishing House and Hebei Education Publishing House. and finally puts forward some feasible suggestions.Through lots of investigations this study finds that different textbooks in Tianshui area is an important factor for poor teaching transition from primary school to middle school, such as vocabulary, topic, phonetic symbols, etc.. Therefore, aiming at these problems, this study puts forward some suggestions and measures, for example the development of word manual, more study and communication between both stages’ teachers, teachers’ care to the students`psychological changes and habits etc..
