Going On The Road Of Difference

Career choice is often a big deal for youth, as it not only carries the anticipation of relatives and friends, but also embodies the pursuit of personal ideal. Once career choice is made, it will have a significant impact on the life quality and life course. In recent years, a large number of wandering singers represented by Xidan girl gradually appear in people’s vision and arouse people’s concern. Now that their income is unstable and their working environment is bad, people are asking why they are not hindered by the situation but make such an unusual career choice.Taking the above question as a starting point, this study attempts to make a thorough inquiry about young wandering singers’ career choice with the research method of semi-structured in-depth interview. Through direct face-to-face contact and communication we can get to know the group of young wandering singers. What’s more, we can explore the influential factors and results of this career choice from their perspective. Specifically, I present the types of young wandering singers, the course of their decision-making and the results of their career choice in order to illustrate how they decide to do it and why they stick with their choice and feel fulfilled.Owing to the influence of the traditional values, people’s opinions on the group of young wandering singers have some certain one-sidedness. I hope that this study can promote social understanding and acceptance of young people’s personalized choice so that a space of warmth and inclusiveness can be provided for their growth and improvement. Also, it is hoped that this study may be helpful for the respondents to better understand their own career choice, shape deeper self-recognition and then find their future direction.
