Students’ scientific literacy is the overall goal of the new high school chemistry curriculum, and the scientific method is an important aspect of the scientific literacy target system. Model law as an important scientific method, is very important in chemistry teaching. Primary battery is an important content in the chemical structure of the high school curriculum,but the content is more abstract, difficult, students difficult to understand, teachers can bring up the students’ modeling ability in teaching, to reduce the complexity of the primary battery theory presented,to make it easier for students to understand. Therefore, understand students’ primary battery modeling ability’s level and characteristics, for teachers targeted design teaching, promote students more effective to learn the primary battery knowledge, apply primary battery model to solve practical problems all have very important significance.This study use a questionnaire survey france, with SOLO classification theory and zhikang Zhang,meihong Qiu’s modeling ability evaluation system as foundation, build chemical primary battery modeling ability evaluation criteria, select Lanzhou City,Gansu Province a high school sophomore year a total of 215 students as the study objects. with adaptation zhikang Zhang, meihong Qiu’s electrochemical modeling ability assessment amount questionnaire as a research tool, to find out the status of high school students primary battery modeling ability. The survey results show: students’ average primary battery modeling ability level is low, concentrated in level 2, the multi-factor levels, and from model selection, model set up, model inspection, model applications, the average level of modeling ability is declining. There is no significant difference for the primary battery modeling ability of boys and girls, but the average level of the boys is higher than girls. Primary battery modeling ability and students’ chemical academic have significant correlation, there are significant differences in excellent students and potential students in modeling ability.According to the findings of this study, put forward teaching suggestions to bring up high school students’ primary battery modeling ability : reading curriculum standards,clear teaching objectives; build knowledge networks,bring up model selection ability;using chemical history teaching,bring up modeling ability; explore, discuss combining,bring up model testing ability; close contact with production and life, bring up model application ability. This study provide some references for studying and teaching primary battery.
