Due to the development of economic globalization, the relationship is more and more tight among all the people in different countries, and English, as international language, gradually becomes more important. The younger-age trend of English learners turns into tendency, but lots of boring vocabulary and sorts of complicated grammar make learners lose interest of English learning at the primary stage, especially the kids who are in the younger-age period, in consequence, traditional English teaching method cannot adapt to kids’ psychological characteristics and cognitive rules. Therefore, it is the first question on kids English teaching how to arise kids’ learning interest and how to increase the efficiency of English learning, as well as, at this time the most important duty is looking for the proper teaching method.Sandwich Story Method is a kind of story teaching method with taking native language as foundation and interspersing target information into itself, based on which, this thesis is on the basis of relational theories in story teaching method, and the aim is to investigate the application of Sandwich Story Method on kids English teaching, to be specific, this thesis attempts to solve the following questions:(1) Can Sandwich Story Method effectively increase kids’ interest to learn English?(2) Can Sandwich Story Method improve kids’ English language proficiency ?In order to answer the above two questions, this experiment selects 60 pupils from the experimental primary school of Datong in Shanxi as the subjects, who are divided into two parallel classes, which are experimental class and control class. The experimental class uses Sandwich Story Method, while, the traditional teaching method is in the control class, in addition, the same textbook is taken in two classes with questionnaire, interview and classroom observation, and then, after 12 weeks’ teaching experiment, the data of pre-test and post-test is analyzed by SPSS software.The conclusion is: compared with traditional teaching method, Sandwich Story Method used in experimental class for kids’ English teaching can effectively not only increase kids’ proficiency of English application, but also motivate kids’ interest of English learning. Through this experiment, we validate the feasibility of Sandwich Story Method in kids English teaching in a degree, which can be seen that it is significant for Sandwich Story Method to improve teaching quality in kids English teaching. On the other hand, there are some limitations for Sandwich Story Method due to time, teaching process and so on. In the future, the further research will be carried on in primary school.
