Research On The Religious Belief Of Contemporary College Students

Belief of college students has been always a realistic issue of significance. In recent years, along with the booming of web media, relevant information concerning religion has also invaded college campus, and the number of college students who believe in religion is increasingly on the rise, which should arouse the due attention of teachers and relative departments in high education. College students, as the constructors and successors of socialistic career, their status of belief are closely related to the development of our country and stability of our society. Therefore, how to guide college students to form the correct views on religion has become a research topic with urgent significance.This study, by taking the college students of 3 universities in Wuhu city as research subject, carries out an empirical study in the form of questionnaires and interview. Based on the data collected and analyzed, various reasons for college students believing religion, either internal or external, are generalized. Then, guided by Marxism’s religious view, a series of principles and methods of Marxism’s religious education to college students are proposed. Regarding principles, we oppose the total denial of religion, or the prohibition of religion by forcible means, we advocate the freedom on religious belief and propaganda of atheism. Regarding methods, we propose more attention from educators in high education, further enhancement of textbook and teacher construction, and further enrichment of education methods. This study aims to not only help the college students understand the nature of religion and form the correct religious view, but also provide the Marxism’s religious education to college students with some practical directions and methods.This paper consists of 6 chapters. Chapter One is the introduction, in which the background, current situation, significance and innovations of this study is introduced. Chapter Two is literature review, where the relative researches concerning the current situation, reasons and corresponding strategies of college students’religious belief are generalized. Chapter Three focuses on Marxism’s religious view, in which the fundamental views and realistic significance of Marxism’s religious view are introduced, then, the basic principles of college students’religious education under the guidance of Marxism’s religious view are proposed. Chapter Four is data analysis, which, in the form of questionnaire, investigates and analyzes college students’cognition on religion and current situation of religious belief. Chapter Five focuses on college students’religious education guided by Marxism’s religious view, in which the basic principles and main methods of college students’Marxism religious education are proposed. Chapter Six is conclusion, in which the major findings and existing shortcomings of this study, and the direction for further research are introduced.
