Study On The Personality Traits Of Excellent College Counselors

With the continuous development of China’s education, the state to a growing importance of higher education, the state has formulated a series of relevant policies for the system of university counselors. Study on the personality traits of counselors work related to the development of significant, based on the research on Instructors’ personality traits and draws the conclusion, the results can be placed in the practical work of college counselors, can provide practical suggestions for the development of counselor team construction and instructors’ work.In this study, taking Anhui University of Technology(AHUT) as an example, selects the AHUT on-the-job counselors as the object of study, using the research methods of questionnaire, interview and visit and research on the outstanding counselor personality traits. For the counselor, we choose the Big Five Personality Questionnaire of college, to reveal the situation and characteristics of current college counselor personality traits. By comparing the in-service instructors in agreeableness, openness, extraversion, conscientiousness and emotional stability of the five dimensions of the differences, and to explore the degree, sex, working years and other factors on whether counselor personality characteristics have an impact, excellent counselors should have the personality traits. For the student, through the issuance of the corresponding student questionnaire, study the counselor’s personality traits. Through the research of the survey found that outstanding counselor at work and be good at communication with students, close to the students, into the students, and work conscientious, work enthusiasm high. From the student questionnaire, can draw students hope to open the instructor has high, tolerant and accept new things, have a sense of innovation, the courage to open up the new field of vision. The innovation of this study lies in the comprehensive analysis of counselors personality research and student survey results, from the new angle of view that the outstanding counselors should have the personality traits, namely the counselors need a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to adapt in the work, and the strain capacity of things and response capabilities; to be loving, helpful; can have larger inclusive heart, and courage to accept new things challenge.
