In the linguistic of curriculum standards for senior high school, the seventh objective of vocabulary is to learn and use 2400-2500 words, the eighth objective of vocabulary is to learn and use 3000 words, the ninth objective of vocabulary is to learn and use about 4500 words. Above that, we can see the higher objective is, the higher request of the number of vocabulary is. With the further research in English teaching, the study of English vocabulary has got more and more attention. The famous linguist Wilkins said: Without grammar, lots of things can’t be expressed; without vocabulary, even nothing can be expressed. Typically, after having some grammar knowledge, vocabulary that is used in the grammar becomes a key element. With the learners` quantity of vocabulary increasing, the chances that can be used in grammar will become more and more, so the Second Vocabulary Acquisition has become the most important part in the Second Language Acquisition. In order to improve vocabulary acquisition effectively, the writer makes an attempt to investigate the influence between vocabulary and pronunciation. The thesis is trying to find a breakthrough point by comprehending the process how Chinese English learners to learning vocabulary, proving the connection among pronunciation and shape and meaning of vocabulary is an extremely important significance of achieving effective Second Vocabulary Acquisition and providing some beneficial points for the English learners learning vocabulary.Firstly,the thesis introduces the origin of this problem and the aims and significance of this research. Then it review and comment the related theories on Second Vocabulary Acquisition from domestic and foreign. At the same time, it mainly introduces related theories on Second Vocabulary Acquisition and Second Pronunciation Acquisition. According to these theories and the practical situation in vocabulary learning of senior high school students, the present study develops on the basis of three research questions:(1) what is the overall level of the awareness of pronunciation about the senior high school students in English instruction?(2) What is the relationship between the awareness of pronunciation and Second the awareness of pronunciation Acquisition?(3)How to carry out the awareness of pronunciation training in senior high school English vocabulary teaching?In order to answer these three questions, the author conducts a quantitative study on a sample of 61 students from Wu Chang No.2 high school for a term. These 61 students are from one class as the experimental class,the writer chooses the interview and vocabulary test for the single class. According to this research’s course and results, the writer concludes the causes.Finally, the writer brings up the limitations and shortcomings of the study and also the prospect of the thesis.
