Housework is a historical activity, which has been brought into existence since there has families, In an uncivilized society, housework was undertaken by men and women, but there was distinct division of labor. Generally, men were engaged in hunting, cutting firewood, and obtaining the raw material that needs in great strength, for women, they were doing cooking, knitting cloth, taking care of children and likewise laboring issue that needn’t too much strength. With the emergence of private ownership and the formation of class, gradually housework has been developing to be exclusively women’s. A lot of experts, including Engels, Lenin and other famous Marxist historian think there is one of the most important reason for women’s oppression is that housework limits women to stay at home. Initially it is a must that women should free themselves from heavy trivial housework, if women wantfreedom and to have an all-around development with truly realization of the equality between women and men. The socialization of housework loosens the bound for women in housework in a certain extent, who are able to have time and chances to participate in social issues. Along with social economy and modern science&technology’s rapid development, many housework items completed at home inpast time, now has transferred into completing in the society, then avariety of social service organizations are founded. Meanwhile, theadvanced science has created all kinds of household appliances,which simplifies the housework and spends less time the houseworktakes. In view of thought, the idea of Sexual equality’s preachmakes the traditional idea”housework should be undertaken bywomen” shifted and transferred slowly. Consequently a greaternumber of women are engaged to participate in working in thesociety, and the prominent contradiction between working andfamilies also reacts upon houseworkmakes housework socializationdeepen. From the above argument, housework has the intimateconnection with female. Housework socialization affects women’respective large or small in all aspects, along with improvement ofwhich, the time spent in housework will be less and less. The roleof women in families has already changed a lot, and many of themstep out of the families and enter the society, making their owncontribution to the modernization of society.The socialization of housework has varying influences uponfemale individual’s physical and psychological developments, familyharmony and happiness, nation’s prosperity, women liberationmovement as well as healthy orderly development of societyrespectively. The research on the influence housework socializationhas imposed on the female role shift in family is conducive to theunderstanding of the female development trend, the meaning offemale role shift (change) as well as the ensuing influence upon theentire society under the background of modern society. In this dissertation, by integrating questionnaire method and individualinterview, utilizing the SPSS data analytic method, the author beginswith the research on the status quo of housework socialization,under whose influence the role shift of both male and female arealso investigated, and analyzes how housework socializationinfluences gender roles, female role in family in particular, so as toinvestigate the changes that already happened and the ongoingdevelopment trends. Based on the results of the investigation, theauthor also shares with us her ideas and suggestions about how torespond to housework socialization in aspects of individual, family,nation, women liberation movement and so on respectively. Thedissertation consists of6parts. In the1stpart, preamble, thebackground under which the subject is brought is introduced inaddition to defining related concepts and classifying the literaturereview borrowed herein; in the2ndpart, research design, it isexplained about the basic method of paragraph research, the basicinformation of study object as well as how questionnaires aredesigned and disseminated; the3rdpart is concerning thedescription and analysis of research findings which is comprised ofthe percentage by which housework is shared among familymembers, the anatomy of the status quo of housework socialization,the female role shift in family; in the4thpart, the meaning ofhousework socialization to gender role change is discussed; in the5thpart, some specific solutions to deal with houseworksocialization are shared with us; in the last part, summary, theaspects in which the author has not yet detailed in this dissertationand issues that need to be deepened are summarized.
