Marital status reflect everyone in the state of marriage in a region, includingsingle, married, divorced and widowed four aspects.With the rapid development ofthe change of society and economy, marriage also corresponding changes have takenplace in Jilin province, in-depth study of the characteristics of marital status andmarital status change is not only beneficial to the harmonious and stable developmentof society, also to the study of population change, population of thoughts and ideaschange, population, economy, population structure, etc. Have a positive impact.In this paper, using the data of Jilin province fifth population census and the sixthcensus data to analyze the change of marital status in Jilin province. First chapter isthe introduction, the paper mainly introduces the research purpose and significance,research methods and literature review. The second chapter, concept definition andtheoretical basis. Mainly introduces the concept of marriage and marriage age legaldefinition and relevant theories of narrative. The third chapter of Jilin province maritalstatus change of the population. Respectively from unmarried population changes inthe population, married, divorced population changes and widowed population changecalculated and compared. It is concluded that unmarried population in Jilin provinceis on the rise, the population and men marry a downward trend. Married populationdeclined slightly, rising divorce population growth rate is greater than the men, andwomen widowed population rising, older women widowed population is much largerthan the male widowed population proportion. By comparing the marital statuschange, urban and rural areas of Jilin province city of unmarried population thanimportant below the villages and towns of the unmarried population, populationdivorce in urban and rural areas has obvious gains. By comparing the Jilin provinceby the level of education of the professional category it is concluded that theeducation level is higher, the late marriage age, and the higher the unmarried population. In all professional category, government agencies, such as staff theunmarried population of minimum.The fourth chapter mainly studies the influencingfactors of marital status. This chapter respectively from social factors, economicfactors and population factors for analysis. Using in the third chapter calculates thedata and draw lessons from the previous analysis of the factors that result in thechange of marital status and combining the Jilin province10years of policies andregulations, economic level and so on can be found that the change of marital status inJilin province is mainly by the improvement of education level, thought liberation andindependence of women, in Jilin province economic level and an aging populationand the population policy. Along with the improvement of education level, people’svision has been expanding, opened to receive more knowledge transfer, and thepursuit of the maximization of individual interests, gradually postponed the firstmarriage age, unmarried population rising, resulting in Jilin province and theeducation level is higher, the higher the unmarried population. As the woman’sliberation and independence of thought, the woman began to more and more engagedin social activities, and gradually achieve economic independence, so womenunmarried population has a rising trend and divorce population also has the obviousrise. Economic development is one of the reasons that result in the change of maritalstatus. In a materialistic society, economic status has clearly become a mate firstcondition, so the older unmarried men. And because of uneven economicdevelopment between urban and rural areas, so the widowed in rural population thanimportant widowed population than city. Increasing the aging degree of Jilin province,the elderly population rising, especially female widowed problem is very serious. Soin chapter v of this article suggested that we should strengthen ideological and moraleducation, building a harmonious society; Perfect pension mechanism, care for elderlywidowed people; Speed up the economic development of Jilin province urban andrural areas.
