Objectives:The Physical energy consumption includes basal metabolism and physical activity. The basal metabolism in the same race, between individuals of the same sex and similar age is relatively stable. As a result, physical activity has become a major factor in the production of difference in energy expenditure in human. Physical activity energy expenditureis the energy consumed during a physical activity, or the energy dissipations of the body in a quiet condition. The measurement of physical activity energy expenditure is very difficult, as the physical activity is a including of activity type, frequency, duration and intensity of the multi-dimensional variables. There are many ways to measure physical activity energy expenditure, but as the complicated operation or use of these methods of instrument is expensive, those methods could not be widely used in people’s daily life. Therefore the design a kind of methods whichare simple, using simple instrument to complete physical activity energy consumption measuring method has very important practical significance.Methods:This study selected90people, including43men,47women from Beijing xicheng district13street community of20-65yearsold adults and older adults with normal daily physical activity tester, testing for7days. Using during testing steps recording the amount of walking every day participants, Sensewear records the daily energy consumption, questionnaire to obtain subjects’ characteristics of physical activity a week, and at the end of the test statistics analysis was carried out on the experimental results.Result:The study of physical activity questionnaire gave the conclusion that housekeeping scores45.70%, as the highest proportion of the total marks of all physical activities; Work related activities score the lowest percentage is only17.13%. In different gender, in the work related to physical activity scores in female subjects and male subjects with significant difference (p=0.02<0.05) is69.17%, which is more than men. This study can be used for the calculation is deduced the equation of physical activity a day power consumption is: (male) Energyexpenditure/day(cal)=-889.814+0.055*step+24.945*weight(kg)+6.504*height (cm)-0.839*age;(female)EnergyExpenditure/day(cal)=-2068.021+0.052*step+26.687*weigh t(kg)+12.755*height (cm)-1.456*age.In our daily life, the use of this study concluded that the total energy equation of a day could makefull use of the potential valueof pedometer, which could be more easily implemented by walking energy consumption increased physical activity interventions.Conclusion:This study established a walk quantity calculate the regression equation of the energy consumptionthrough the use of electronic pedometer to adults and the aged20to65years old average weekly energy consumption level test; Using the questionnaire to review the type of physical activity a week assessment of physical activity characteristics, and analyzed the present situation of adult physical activity and the elderly people. This study tried to establish a simple and effective evaluation method as it has certain application value, especially in sports science and sports fitness at the grass-roots level is worth promoting.
