The Nine Chapters on Mathematical Art is a representative work for Chinese mathematical thought and methods with an important educational value.The part content of book in middle school mathematics textbooks as reading materials.Because of the deviation in recognizing and the limited teaching hours,it has yet to play its educational value in teaching.So the author hold the opinion that development and study on the HPM case is one of the effective forms that plays the educational value of the Nine Chapters on Mathematical Art.The Literature research method, survey study method and case study method are used in the paper.On the basis of summaried research about the Nine Chapters on Mathematical Art and the HPM cases.The author find the shortage and put forward the theory of research. In third and fouth chapters, the main content and the three educational aspects of the book are discussed; In fifth chapter, the questionnaire is used to understand the education status of the book in middle school; In sixth and seventh chapters, some teaching principles and three different examples of HPM cases based on the book are given.At the same time, the cases are applied in the practice with well teaching effect.Through the research, the author thinks the development and study on the HPM case can effectively play the educational value of the Nine Chapters on Mathematical Art in teaching and provide a valuable resource for myself and other mathematics teachers.
