The Research On Urban Sports Events Industry Chain

In the global and commercialized society, sports events are more than sporting. With the increasing scale, sport events have been a broad platform including a set of political, economic, culture, sporting. Interactive effects of sporting events and urban development has become a focus of current research. Sports events have important implications on economic development, urban construction, environmental improvement and technological advancement of host city. The role of sports events to promote the city’s economic growth mainly is generated by pulling on tourism, catering and accommodation, finance, transportation and retail related industries, to promote urban infrastructure construction, and improve the urban environment. In this article, I analyze industrial correlation effects between events industry and related industries to find a strong correlation with the events industry. Therefore, by the government’s macro-control, we should appropriately use market selection, and integrate existing resources, to promote the integration of the development of events industry and other industries.Based on combing and summarizing the domestic and abroad research, and based on the concept of the industry chain, I build events industrial chain, and further analysis the features of events industry chain. Furthermore, I analyze the combined effect of chain events from the theoretical level, including economic growth effects, social effects and the associated effects. Economic growth effects include own income of events, attracting economic investment community, increasing employment opportunities, promoting consumption and export and promoting technological progress. Social effects of events industry chain refer to the shape the city’s image, promoting the development of cultural industries, and promoting urban transformation. The related effects of events industry chain which are also the empirical analysis in this paper, include the impact of three industries restructuring and correlation analysis of downstream industries.On the basis of the theory of events industry chain, I make the empirical analysis of Shanghai F1race and the Beijing Guoan home Super League matches. I use the gray relational model, and take the output data of associated industries from2004to2012. Then I analyze the related effects of the events industrial chain, namely correlation between events industry and three industries, and correlation of downstream industries. In addition to taking the output value of the three industries, I take another six industries including tourism, catering and accommodation industry, transportation, retail, finance, and real estate, to analysis correlation effects of Shanghai F1and Beijing Guoan Super tournament. As large single sport events, The Shanghai F1race’s impact on the automotive industry is large, so the correlation effect analysis also select the auto industry. According to the empirical results, the following conclusions:(1)The empirical results associated with the effects of events industrial chain on three industries show that the highest associated industry is the tertiary industry, followed by the secondary sector, the lowest correlation is the first industry.(2)The empirical results related effects of events industrial chain on downstream industries show that events industry associated higher degree with tourism and catering, and lower degree with the transportation, retail, telecommunications, financial services and real estate.As a major sporting event, Shanghai Fl has a strong role in auto industry development.(3)This paper discusses the development of events from industry chain perspective. First, we should increase investment in the tertiary industry, through the development of service industries to support events industry. Secondly, the downstream industry chain of events, should give priority to develop industries associated with the higher degree of events, as catering and accommodation, transportation, making the events industry to further development, thus contributing to the economic growth of the city in a greater extent.Finally, based on theoretical and empirical analysis of the events industrial chain, the author presents proposals to promote the development of events industry and related industries:(1)Play macro-control functions of government, to promote the development of events industry;(2) Develop sports agency, and develop professional team undertaking major international sporting events;(3) Seizing the opportunities of organizing events, do brand marketing of urban tourism;(4) Speed up the construction of appropriate infrastructure, accelerate the construction of sporting facilities industry.(5)Improve the industrial structure, vigorously support industries related events.Through the government’s macro-control, coupled with professional guidance of sports agency, we should allocate limited resources to the key sectors of the events industrial chain, so as to promote the development of positive interaction with other related industries.
