American University General Education Curriculum And Its Reference

General education is a component part of higher education, are all collegestudents should take the professional education and general education aims tocultivate actively participate in social life, social responsibility, the comprehensivedevelopment of society and the citizen of the country, it is a broad, the utilitarianeducation of basic knowledge, skills, and attitudes.The importance of general education to improve the teaching quality in collegesand universities, is the world trend of higher education. This paper combines thedomestic and foreign relevant literature about the general education curriculum, onthe basis of summarizing the related research achievements of predecessors, theunderstanding of the combination of the history and present situation of thecurriculum of general education in colleges and universities were analyzed, andconcluded that China university general education curriculum problems and thedevelopment obstacles, in order to find the perfect path of university generaleducation curriculum in China.The first chapter introduces the connotation and characteristics of generaleducation, and the several concepts related to general education.The second chapter introduces the development of college general educationcurriculum and the status, analysis of the characteristics of university generaleducation curriculum in the United States.The third chapter analyses the problems existing in college general educationcurriculum and analyzes reasons for the dilemma.The fourth chapter is this article key, introduces the current situation of collegegeneral education courses, through the comparison with the United States of Chinaafter the problems existing in the general education of colleges and universities set up,and to explore Chinese college general education curriculum reform put forward itsown views and opinions.
