For many years, the teaching of English writing in Chinese senior highschools has been time-consuming but not effective because no much attentionhas been paid to the writing strategies. With the adoption of the NewCurriculum the cultivation of students’ability to use the language has becomethe new overall objective of our English courses. So,there has arisen thetendency of guidance on strategies in learning and teaching.The review of the literature. Review the history and present situation ofresearch on learning strategies in learning English and understand some basicconcepts and problems of strategy in the field. Also introduce the theoreticalbasis of this research: constructivism and new curriculum.The research’s theoretical basis is constructivism and the new curriculum,based on the ideas of the experts. and through Practical experiments andtheoretical analyses, conducted an investigation and exploration of senior highschool students’ application of English writing strategies. The researchhypotheses were proposed: One, whether writing strategies should be appliedinto English writing teaching in senior high school? Two, whether there is apositive correlation between writing strategies and writing performance?Three,whether the application of writing strategies can effectively improvestudents writing level.Research design and the collection and analysis of experimental data.According to the theory of learning strategy, carry on a questionnaire. Thepurpose is to understand the state of the writing strategies application insenior high school. Then the author tests the students’ writing level. Accordingto the current situation of English learning in first grade students in my school,the error correction strategies, imitation strategies and macro structurestrategies are used in the training process. And other kinds of writingstrategies are also used in writing practice. By analysis senior high schoolentrance examination scores,students’ writing scores and the strategies application in the pre-test and post test,the author use the SPSS17.0statisticalsoftware to analysis the data.From the results of the experimental training course, it is reasonablybelieved that it is necessary to integrate English writing strategy into theteaching of writing at the period of senior high school education. In theauthor’s teaching area, applying the writing strategy theory to English WritingTeaching in senior high school is still relatively seldom. Therefore, thepurpose of this research is: with the former theory and practice, under theguidance of the strategies, through the experimental study, try to find thesuitable writing method for the actual situation of the students to guidestudents’ writing and improve students’ English writing. At the same time alsoto be able to drive the other teachers to pay attention to strategy, so as topromote the English teaching, especially the teaching of English writing.Finally came to the conclusions:Writing strategies should be appliedinto English writing teaching in senior high school. There is a significantpositive correlation between writing performance and writing strategies. Theapplication of writing strategies can obviously improve the students’ Englishwriting.
