The research is focused on the career development of six high school teachers inHuai’an city. On the basis of combing the relevant literature, we have designed somequestionnaires and interview outlines. And through the results of the questionnaire andindividual interview, we tease out the current problems on teachers’ career development inhigh schools in Huai’an and three main related factors.Personal factors:The thought of utilitarian education; Low confidence and low Career self-efficiency;Inaccuracy of understanding on it; Weak reflected consciousness; Low planning andmanagement abilities.School factors:Little attention on teachers’ self-development; Training effectiveness is to beimproved; The evaluation system is to be improved;The school management system is centralized.Social and family factors:Low occupational status, treatment and career satisfaction; Occupational stress; Lowattention from the competent department;Family factors also should be reckoned with.Based on the analysis of the above factors, we put forward the strategies andsuggestions that benefit the region’s high school teacher career development.Firstly, the ways of high school teachers’ independent career development: theconceptual changes in teachers’ career development;the abilities of improving the individual career management.Secondly, the ways of the teachers’ career development designed by schools: to helpteachers plan and design better career development direction; to focus on teacher development; to improve the effectiveness of teacher training; to improve teachers’evaluation system; to offer more opportunities for teachers’ participation in schooldecision-making and democratic management; to create a harmonious school cultureatmosphere, etc.Thirdly, the society should create best atmosphere for teacher career development: toimprove the awareness of teachers’ career development; to improve the pay and status ofteachers in north Jiangsu; to focus on teacher’s mental health in high schools, etc.Hoping to provide some references for the individuals, schools, related EducationAdministrative Department on teachers’ career development and management in Huai’an,even in north Jiangsu.
