| Language curriculum reform gradually goes deeper state after the new curriculum standards issued by the Ministry of Education.Language textbooks by the unity of the road towards diversification. Two kinds of high school language textbook was published in the People’s Education Press and Jiangsu Education Publishing House, compared with other versions of the materials, they occupy an absolute advantage in the number and scope. Language textbook is an important medium for teaching activities carried out. As an important part of the Reading Assistant System, the unit introduction includes the teaching objectives of each unit, the focus and difficulty of teaching as well as teaching techniques and learning methods and so on. Through a comparative study of the two versions of the unit introduction, this paper summarizes their characteristics in the content and form, carding two sets of textbooks’ writing philosophy which inherent in the unit introduction, reveals some of the unit introduction’s shortcomings, such as Lacking of "student-centered" guiding, ignoring the text "Essentials", missing some language literacy, Sequence of teaching objectives confusion, the purpose of conflict between the unit introduction and the exercises, the unit introduction lack of a comprehensive guide angle and so on. In addition, considering the defects of the unit introduction, this paper provides some suggestions, such as to build a scientific unit introduction target sequence, coordination unit elements, enhance the overall awareness, based on "student-centered" centers, enhanced guidance function, clear "Essentials" of text to achieve the text value, with "performance-exist" as the center, to co-ordinate language literacy and strengthen the comprehensive guide. |
