The new curriculum standards have been implemented for a year, it’s purpose is to improvethe scientific literacy of students, to stimulate students’ interest in learning chemistry, to guidethe students’ learning. It stresses the construction of the students’ knowledge, and cultivatesstudents’ scientific thinking ability and innovation ability of Chemistry in junior period isprimary..It demands us to pay more attention to the students’ learning methods andknowledge construction and develop the students’ thinking ability.Using a variety of teachingmedia and teaching methods is advocated, it can play the advantage of modern informationtechnology to the junior middle school students in order to lay a good foundation for thefuture chemistry study in high school even the lifelong learning and adapt to the modernsocial life.Mind map is a tool which uses the graphics to turn the radioactive thinking into specificand then finish the information processing and problem solving. This method was invented bythe world-famous psychologist education historian Tony Buzan in the early1970s.To use mind mapping can change the linear thinking way which means people traditionallyuse their left brain for thinking. It lets us use the left brain and right brain at the same time. Itcan also synthesize people’s divergent thinking, concentrated thinking and creativity. It canturn relative knowledge into a short and concise, easy to remember, a highly organisedcolorful image.so as to inspire and continue to strengthen learning interest, improve people’smemory, thinking skills and learning efficiencyFor junior high school students, the chapter “chemistry in the sea”is difficult but also it isa key. The knowledge in this chapter is too much and scattered, also have the abstractknowledge that is difficult to understand. On the other hand, it covers four major areas ofknowledge and closes to the practice of life.It is closely related to people’s life, and areabstract,so it’s a representative choice. To study this chapter, we can use the organic combination of theory and teachingpractice. We can also use the methods of literature research, questionnaire survey method, observation method and other methods. In the specific study, based on the theories of mindmapping, and with the help of mind mapping software-Mind Manager6.0we make a mindmap of " chemistry in the seawater " to design the teaching process of new lecture and recitation, experiment teaching strategy. It has been proved in our actual teaching that to use the mind map in the teaching process injunior can form messy chemistry knowledge into information block, and make it thrifty, ordered and systematic. Then it can reduce the difficulty of mastering the knowledge. Also, the student’s memory and analytic skills can be improved, their thinking competence can beincreased, their communication and cooperation ability can be enhanced. It can enrich thechemistry’s teaching and studying methods at the same time. Also, it provides references tothe development of the mind map.
