At present, china pays more and more attention to secondary vocational education. As amajor cultural foundation course of secondary vocational school, mathematics is thefoundation of learning specialized courses, and a tool for the students to learn and work. Butin the secondary vocational school, student’s quality is very poor, math class is reduced, theteachers’ enthusiasm decreased. For these reasons, mathematics teaching is in trouble.Teaching methods, teaching materials, and evaluation methods are difficult to adapt to theactual condition of students. The education commission puts forward the teaching of the basiccourses should be in accordance with the principle of "necessary and just enough".Mathematics of vocational school should be combined with the professional course teaching,and it can assist students to learn specialized courses, so it should focus on adapting to thestudents’ ability and professional needs, math’s teachers must choose effective contents andreasonable methods of teaching; give students a variety of reasonable evaluation. Only in thisway can we form a more effective teaching mode, effectively incorporate the professionalknowledge into mathematics and improve the efficiency of teaching.In this article, I first analyze the current situation of mathematics education and theteaching pattern of the vocational schools at home and abroad. The paper elaborates thetheory basis of selective teaching. Then, I analyze the characteristics of financial professionaldisciplines. Through questionnaires and statistical analysis, I summarize the problems andcontradictions existing in mathematics teaching. Comparing the selective teaching mode andthe past popular mode, I also describe the main influence factors of mathematics learning andthe principles of selective teaching. Then I analyze the current mathematical content,combining with the characteristics of financial professional discipline, I choose the mostsuitable content for students, use different teaching methods and a variety of evaluationmethods. Next, I analyze the first-hand datas that have been got after a period of teachingpractice; obtain the feasibility and effectiveness of measures on math teaching.This research gets the following conclusion. First, the mathematical content in the financialprofessional is reasonable and effective. Second, course schedule is reasonably andpracticable, it can be operational zed in many schools. Third, a variety of evaluation methodsare in accordance with students’ mental, and the methods about students’ comprehensive evaluation are replicable. Fourth, it is proved by practice that students can be improvedthrough selective teaching; the overall quality of every teacher is also increased. At the sametime the secondary vocational mathematics curriculum reforms steadily.At the end of the study, combined with the actual situation and reflection, the paperpresented problems in the research process, and raise some issues needed to further theresearch in future.
