Three Well-known American Universities Club Sports Management Model And Revelations

American colleges and universities enjoy centuries-old history of club sports development, gathering abundant practical experience and attracting innumerable students to participate. These clubs play a unique role in cultivating students and enriching university life.The developmental situation of American college and university sports clubs is inextricably associated with perfect management, which is well worth learning. Based on the statements,this study utilizes literature, comparative research, case studies and other research methods and carries out systematic and deep combing and analysis of club sports management patterns in three world-renowned universities, i.e. Harvard University, Yale University, and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The study has found the following outstanding characteristics of the patterns.To begin with, American university club sports have sound management system and scientific structures, and adhere to the scientific concept of humanism. Second, they have thorough financial management system and specific fund-raising venues and instructions.Third, systematic and strong facilities provide material support for the development of club sports. Also, advanced management ideas create a platform for college students to maintain and improve self-management. Moreover, various contents are available to meet the needs of both groups and individuals. As well, they have strong sense of risk prevention and perfect risk prevention regulations, etc.Based on the prominent problems existing in our university club sports and the above analysis, this study believes currently we should enhance the top-level design and innovate management mode in order to guide our university sports club to develop healthily and sustainably. Specific ideas are as follows.In terms of management systems, accountability mechanism should be clarified and effective management manuals be formulated. As for management philosophy,people-oriented management philosophy should be strengthened and a multi-channel service system be built. About management means, decentralization should be encouraged and make the most of club sports organization as tools. As for institutional reform, regulatory agencies should be streamlined and the organizations be flatten and vertical. In training and promotion,training and guidance should be strengthened and professional standards and vocational skills enhanced. In terms of financial management, school funding should be increased and promote the proportion of students’ independent fund-raising capacity. As for venue usage and management, capital investment should be increased and improve club sports’ usage proportion. In risk management, activity processes should be regulated and risk awareness strengthened.
