The textbook functions not only as the primary basis of teaching activities but also the main content of students’ learning. However, not all the textbooks can be suitable for the flexible education situation. Therefore, English teachers should redevelop the textbook on the basis of curriculum standards and the actual teaching situation. Only in this way can the students’ learning needs be satisfied and the traditional idea of teaching textbooks can be replaced by the idea of using textbooks. Therefore, more and more researchers have started to pay attention to the topic of “the redevelopment of the textbooks”.The study focuses on the investigation on the redevelopment of NEFC so as to supply some theoretical and practical guidance for teachers. The study instruments include questionnaires, literature and interview. The subjects of the study include 121 English teachers in Yong’an county.Through the data analysis, this study holds that the capability to redevelop the textbook should be improved in many aspects, including the awareness of necessity, the sufficiency of action, the capability of developing curriculum resources. In addition, English teachers are also in great need of guidance from experts.
