By the new age, handheld technology has boomed and been widely used in the education of our country. By putting forward a new round of curriculum reform, bringing the handheld technology which is a kind of deep, intuitive, quantitative teaching aid, into chemistry classroom has become a tendency, and plays a special role in studying style of students which is autonomous, inquiry and cooperative. The work of research mainly includes that:Firstly, the background and present research have been concluded. Secondly, practical study on the topic is discussed. Based on clear thought, content and method of research discussed, and study process planed, the research value and significance have also been summarized.Then, specific practice research by handheld technology is carried out. It is based on handheld technology experiments offered in teacher education curriculum for 2010, 2011 grade undergraduates who are ready to engage in Chemistry Teaching of middle school in Henan Normal University, designing principles and clear ideas, selecting experiment content, summing up the effect of experimental course with handheld technology.Three series of experiments consisting of eight small experiments are designed. In the stage of the courses in the hand-held technology experiments, reaction process of each experimental phenomenon is fully demonstrated, and the phenomenon that only the result of the experiment can be seen in traditional experiment is changed. At the same time, the characteristics of handheld technology are embodied from the traditional experiment of qualitative description to quantitative analysis of the transition. In the process of experiment, strictly regulated operation, it is focused on the process of students’ experience and emotion attitude, values education with strictly regulated operation.Then, there are two innovative experiment cases to further expand and develop curriculum resources. The first is to explore "bread experiment" by use of handheld technology. In addition to the improved "brown bread" experiment device of traditional experiment, it is more important to make quantitative research of the absorption effect of the Sodium hydroxide solution which is as the absorption solution of Sulfur dioxide gas generated in the experiment. The other is the use of handheld technology for exploring the conductivity of colloid experiments, in which using handheld technology, conductivity of iron hydroxide colloid and ferric chloride solution are both tested. It is in order to provide the basis of a different conductivity data to make the students better understand of colloid and solution and to distinguish between the solution and colloid. The two experimental teaching cases have not yet seen by literature reports.Finally, after the hand-held technology experiments, though questionnaire, observation, and interview, the investigation and analysis were carried on respectively from six aspects of the handheld technology experiment teaching effect, superiority of hand-held technology, the role of hand-held technology, students’ attitude of handheld technology as future chemistry teachers, whether students have developed handheld technical ability of teaching cases or not and application prospect of handheld technology in middle school chemistry teaching and so on.The results indicate that, in the scope of Henan province, except the extremely individual students have made a slight understand of handheld technology through books, magazines, or on line, the vast majority of the students before handheld technology experimental class, know little about it.After the hand-held technology experiment,78.5% of the students like teaching methods of handheld technology experiment;65.2% of the students think of handheld technology experiment teaching effect is good;52.6% of the students think that the application of handheld technology has certain influence on chemistry teaching;78.2% of the students in the traditional experiment prefer handheld technology;75.6% of the students recognize the hand-held technology helps to stimulate interest in chemistry learning;70.2% of the students think their help to data analysis skills;63.5% of students to the hand-held technology to improve image recognition ability agree;52.6% of the students think the hand-held technology helps to increase creativity;65.2% of the students think the hand-held technology has a certain teaching scope; 75.6% of the students are willing to use handheld technology to chemistry experiment;74.6% of the students think they can develop the teaching case, but it needs some more time.Therefore, it could be concluded that the hand-held technology has been loved by vast majority of the students. Students can also realize the help of handheld technology in improve learning interest and the team cooperation experiment, and recognize that the hand-held technology has a positive role on the chemical teaching and students’ learning. At the same time it also confirmed that using hand-held technology in chemistry experiment is necessary and feasible.There are few experimental researches using handheld technology in colleges and universities, and as well as most of the middle school in Henan province in the current. So it is worth promoting and discussing in Henan province.
