The Narrative Research Of An Excellent Teacher’s Professional Development

Only to establish teaching staff with high level can we achieve a high-quality education. Excellent teachers are outstanding in teachers community. To be an excellent teacher is the goal and objective,as well as demonstrations and guide,for the development of young teachers. Therefore,the research focus on developing process and influencing factors during the growth of an excellent teacher professional development to promote the young teachers’ professional development,which has important theoretical significance and practical value to improve the overall quality of teachers.Research on the characteristics and professional development of excellent teachers has been the attention of scholars for a long time. Domestic and foreign scholars had studied the excellent teachers’ quality,the behavior characteristic, the professional development stage and the influential factors and so on, which has gained abundant research achievements. However, there are also some deficiencies in previous: One is the most research of teacher professional development based on the phenomenological description,lack of exploring on the inner mechanism, at the same time, the influential factors of teacher professional development as well as how individuals growing are lack systematic research. Second, domestic research concerning excellent teachers’ professional development is mainly empirical or theoretical, relatively empirical research is few. Moreover, mostly carried out by the questionnaires or interviews, it lacks the deep research and analysis about the details and complete picture of excellent teachers’ professional lives, the study on key events,people who are important, as well as key chain and so on are also insufficient.This thesis is based on conducting the literature review about the quality characteristics of excellent teachers, including its professional development stage, influential factors and so on. Interviews and educational narrative method are adopted to analysis experiences of an excellent elementary school math teacher in Changchun deeply. discussing the process and the stage characteristics of the excellent teachers’ professional development, the influential factors and what role does the professional development process play, all these analysis are contribute to provide feasible suggestions for the professional development of teachers.The findings as follows:1.The professional development of the excellent teacher mainly experienced five stages: youth of the induction period(1-3 years) 、vocational education period(4- 5 years)、capacity building period(6- 15 years)、the twists and turns period(16-18 years), the excellent teacher period(20 years).All stages have their own characteristics.2.There are five main factors influence the professional development of the excellent teacher: love and responsibility of education, the goals to be an excellent teacher, continuous study and teaching-reflection, the influence from significant other persons and key events, environmental impact. Among them, love and responsibility of education and the goals to be an excellent teacher are the source power of the teachers’ professional development, continuous study and teaching-reflection plays a major role on it.
