Profound knowledge is the core of the university,this have been admitted by numerous experts and scholars.But as the core of the university, what is its essence,and what are the inherent attributes and characteristics.This problem has not been systematically discussed and solved,and this directly lead to the difficulty of theoretical construction of higher education and make the practice and functions of university teaching,scientific research and social service more difficult to point to a correct,reasonable,and general approval direction.In the university, academic activities are the main activity carrier of profound knowledge,therefore,grasping the characteristics of the profound knowledge in the academic activities,is not only beneficial to make us better understand the connotation and essence of profound knowledge,but also helpful for us to better understand the organization and operation rules of higher education. This article will make a in-depth thinking and detailed discussion on the characteristics of the profound knowledge from the perspective of academic activities. This paper can mainly be divided into the following three parts.The first part briefly discusses the historical development of profound knowledge. In history,profound knowledge,as the core of the university,mainly had two significant transformation:the first transformation from profound knowledge in theology to classical humanism profound knowledge;the second transformation from classical humanism profound knowledge to natural science-based profound knowledge. Nowadays, profound knowledge is on the third transformation,that is the transformation from natural science-based profound knowledge to the postmodern profound knowledge. In the university,academic activities are the main activities carrier of profound knowledge, academic activities are closely related to profound knowledge, every paradigm transformation of profound knowledge will make a great deal of influence and restriction on academic activities,which is from the connotation,object,value orientation and so on.The second part will take academic activities as a whole to explore the connotation and essence,the value,the orientation and the objects,forms and conditions of academic activities,then,we come to a conclusion:academic characteristic is the essential characteristics of profound knowledge. In this study,the connotation of academic activities is: in the university, the discovery,preservation,development,transfer, application and its all process and every link;Academic activities in essence is a kind of spirit production activities; The value orientation of academic activities directly point to people,to the theory value, the wisdom and the person’s moral constraints; Academic activities take profound knowledge as its core,has the characteristic of profound;In the university,profound knowledge exist in the form of discipline,different discipline follow different "paradigm",and this make profound knowledge has the characteristic of paradigm;The objects and form characteristics of profound knowledge determines the necessary conditions for academic activities smoothly is free environment and atmosphere;Based on the analysis of the history and value of profound knowledge and the analysis of the connotation,object,form and condition of academic activities the author thinks that academic characteristic is the essential characteristics of profound knowledge.The third part summarizes the basic characteristics of profound knowledge through the analysis of each link of the academic activities. The process of profound knowledge discovery has significant tacit,its mainly embodies in three aspects: the existence of tacit knowledge in profound knowledge;the process of its exploration;its tacit environment. Profound knowledge,in the process of its preservation,showed significant cumulative. First of all,from the perspective of space,the accumulation of profound knowledge is administrative and integrity. Secondly, from the perspective of time,the accumulation of profound knowledge show the characteristic of time.Thirdly,from the perspective of the subject, profound knowledge accumulation follow understanding rules,emphasize the process of exploration and the training of thinking. Finally,from the perspective of object,the accumulation of profound knowledge is the accumulation of the truth,have the characteristic of relativity;the development process of profound knowledge has strong personal characteristic.The main reason involve two aspects: one is the profound knowledge of exclusiveness. The second is the existence of "personal knowledge".The process of profound knowledge transfer has significant openness, it is mainly showed in three aspects: one is the openness of the university atmosphere,the second is the openness of the relationship between teachers and students,the third is the openness of students’ learning methods;The application of profound knowledge has significant practicality.Under the perspective of academic activities,the application of profound knowledge have three main goals:one is to better understand,check,discover and integrate profound knowledge.The second is to improve people’s quality and ability, promote the development of human being.The third is to discover and improve the objective rules,promote the development of the objective world. And the three goals realization all depends on whether this kind of practicality can be in full play.
