Modernity and aesthetic modernity are the western academic discourses which appeared in the second half of last century and with rapid development of China modernization in recent years, they have also become the hot topic of China academia. Modernity is the characteristics of modern times and aesthetic modernity is the aesthetic characteristics of modern times. The art or aesthetics of modern times is independent of politics and society, on which they have the function of reflection. So the aesthetic modernity is considered by scholars when they think about the modern issues. The essence of modernity is a kind of rational, which is not only the philosophy basis and development power of the modern society, but also is the source of many problems of modern times. So the reflection on modern rational is the important part of the reflection of aesthetic modernity. Besides, aesthetic is regarded as the way of saving the alienation of human nature in modern society, which is the meaning of aesthetic salvation.Schiller’s 《Aesthetic Education Letters》 is the classic works of western aesthetic history, the content of which has always the tans-times values. Schiller’s aesthetic education thought considers aesthetic as the way of solving the human nature problems. Schiller’s aesthetic education thought was born two hundred years ago, however the great idea has always been of great values through space and time. The analysis of the aesthetic modernity factors of Schiller’s aesthetic education thought are the proofs of the contemporary value of Schiller’s aesthetic education.At the same time, we should take into account that there are many differences between Schiller’s aesthetic education and the aesthetic modernity. The main four points are mentioned in the essay. The fist point is that the ultimate goal is different. The second is that the analysis of the human nature of modern society. The third is the different understanding of the essence of aesthetic. The last point is that the analysis of the essence of esthetic in Schiller’s thought is more deeply, because Schiller reached the origin of aesthetic in human mind.There are main three parts in the essay which include modernity, aesthetic modernity and the dialectical analysis of the aesthetic modernity factors of Schiller’s aesthetic education thought. The analysis of the first and second parts is the basic of the analysis of the third. The essence of modernity is a kind of the rational which is the philosophical basis and spiritual power of modern society. The aesthetic modernity include the independence of aesthetic, aesthetic coordination, aesthetic reflection and aesthetic salvation.
