In recent years, the trend of young Chinese learners becomes more and more obvious in South Korea. More and more primary schools increased Chinese courses in the curriculum. The Hanban also plans to send 1400 volunteer Chinese teachers to South Korean primary and secondary schools by 2012 to 2015 according to the CPIK (Chinese Program In Korea) project. The potential of Korean elementary Chinese class is evident.Although the development of the Korean elementary Chinese class is very fast, in the teaching process people emphasis on listening and speaking ability but ignored the Chinese characters. This is not conducive to the enlightenment and improvement of the Chinese. Also the South Korean elementary school are learning the Sino-Korean homograghs which is similar to the Chinese characters. Therefore, the strengthening of Korean elementary Chinese character education is very imperative. By studying the value of the Korean cartoon "Magic Thousand Character" applied to the Korean elementary Chinese characters class and doing the instructional design, we hope that it will provide some reference to the South Korean elementary Chinese character class with multimedia technology.This thesis includes four parts.The first chapter is an introduction. It contained the background and significance of the topic, the difficult and methods of the research, as well as the literature review. The literature review includes the studies of teaching Chinese characters as a foreign language and Chinese Teaching of the review of South Korean Elementary School.The second chapter analyzed the theoretical basis of multimedia technology in elementary Character Teaching from children’s cognitive development theory, edutainment and multimedia educational philosophy and teaching theory. Then we demonstrated the feasibility of multimedia material including animation applied to the Chinese characters class in South Korean elementary school.The third chapter gave a brief introduction of "Magic Thousand Character Classic," a brief introduction. Then we demonstrated the feasibility and value of this cartoon applied applied to the Chinese characters class in South Korean elementary school from three parts:Korean specialties, interesting story and the appearance of Chinese characters.The fourth chapter analyzed Chinese characters material and cultural material of the cartoon as the main material of Chinese characters class. We also proposed multimedia teaching methods for elementary Chinese character class. Finally we designed the entire animation as a teaching material for a period of two semesters of Chinese characters class, and made a case design used one episode.
