The new curriculum points out that the course is learner-centered and groupwork is widely used in class to meet the practical needs of teaching reform. A two-year-study on groupwork in physics teaching in class is conducted based on the theory of modern educational psychology and the concept of the new curriculum reform of physics. The study aims to stimulate students’ participation in physics and to cultivate students’ self-learning ability. The research also elaborates the meaning of groupwork and the pricinple of groupwork in physics study in class: ⑴ the principle to stimulate students’ participation in class; ⑵ the principle to correspond with the characters of physics; ⑶ the principle to meet with the rules of students’ learning physics habits;(4) the principle to build and organize the calss easily. Three teaching strategies about groupwork in physics teaching are also made to: ⑴rearrange resources to help students get ready for groupwork; ⑵ use study plan to organize groupwork; ⑶use evaluation sheet to improve groupwork.During the study, some measures are concluded to rearrange resources, to use study plan and to use evaluation sheet to organize and cultivate students to take part in groupwork in physics learning. The study also concludes the pattern and offers five examples to show how to use groupwork to have new classes, revision classes and exercises classes.A conclusion is made with the help of educational analysis that the acutual effect of the class organized by groupwork is much better than the traditional class pattern in physics teaching in class. The teaching experience of conducting groupwork provide a reference to some physics teachers. Through the study, the teacher gradually improve the teaching skills to use groupwork to cultiviate students’ participation in phyics class. The further improvement in this study is that the teachers should improve their own overall quality and the ability to control the groupwork in class.
