Sports events are the most kernel contents in sports field. As the rapid development of economy, sports events already became a social activity with extremely big influences. Under the support of a series of policies made by the government, marketization, commercialization and industrialization of sports event become increasingly obvious. At present, sports events are not only limited to sports competition, as a successful sports event shall not only meet the general sports consumption of the masses, but also promote the local urban development, create the local sports atmosphere and speed up the development of sports industry. The reason why Fuzhou chose to establish a brand sports event is that it has stronger vitality than common sports events. Compared with common sports competitions, brand sports events could bring bigger economic value and image propagation effect. And whether the sports market resource can be developed successfully or not is an important condition for the establishment of brand sports events, which is also a very challenging task. So, the success of sports events depends on the development of market resource.In the paper, it aims to study the market development situation of Fuzhou in creating brand sports events, through the analysis and study of market development of some first-class international sports events that are hosted in Fuzhou, such as FIVB Beach Volleyball Word Tour, China Open Badminton Championships and the Cycling Race on the International Fuzhou-Yongtai Road. Through SWOT analysis, it analyzed the opportunity, challenges, advantage and disadvantages in the market development of creating brand sports events. Thus, it will lay a theoretical foundation for creating brand sports events with its own characteristics.In the paper, research methods such as field survey, literature review, expert interview, comparative analysis, logic analysis, SWOT analysis has been adopted. Through the aspects mentioned below, the author analyzed and studied the market development status in creating brand sports event in Fuzhou:First of all, It introduced the development situation, market development mode and the status of market resource development of three international sports events held in Fuzhou. Through the SWOT analysis, the author analyzed the market resource development in creating brand sports events in Fuzhou.Secondly, through the comparative analysis with market development in other sports events of the same level, it proposed several problems exist in market development while creating the brand sports events in Fuzhou and then proposed scientific suggestions.Thirdly, there are some problems exist in the market development during the process of creating brand sports event in Fuzhou, such as the shortage of long-term plan, problems in attracting investment, the lack of promotion, insufficient efforts in resource development etc. The author of the paper proposed several suggestions for creating brand sports events in Fuzhou based on its existing problems: improve the sports management mechanism and speed up the progress of creating brand sports events in Fuzhou; improve the level of holding sports events and expand its influences; strengthen its cooperation with major media and intensify the publicity efforts; pay more attention to the new marketing platform and improve the professional level of the market development team etc.
