Viggo J Ki’s theory of zone of proximate development holds that there are 2kinds of individual’s development levels, the first one is their current level, the second one is the potential level whose achievement need to resort to the others’ help, it called “potential” in our daily life, it also can be named as“zone of proximate development”. The traditional mode of teaching neglects students’ zone of proximate development, the knowledge imparted in class is deepened regardless of its difficulty which lead to a low-efficient class.Aimed at this situation and according to Viggo J Ki’s theory of zone of proximate development, we put forward a teaching mode which fits the students’ psychology feature well-- the Gradient Teaching Mode. The Gradient Teaching Mode refers to the teachers build a relationship between the new and the old knowledge through different kinds of gradient practices.
