A Study On Urbanization Of Rural Suburb Through The Concentration Of Farmers Residential Area

Under the urbanization trend all over China, many suburban counties have beeninvolved in this tide. The construction of Farmers Concentrated Residential Area is oneof the main ways to achieve urbanization. Though there are many studies on theurbanization of farmers concentrated residential areas, few of them focus on the specificurbanization process of a community. Using the way of observing, participating andinterviewing, this study takes Community H in Shanghai as a typical example to helpanalyze the urbanization of farmers concentrated residential areas.Based on the investigation of one typical farmers concentrated residential area inShanghai, this study analyzed the background and forming process of this community,trying to figure out its urbanization process. From traditional village life to moderncommunity, there are too many changes for farmers to accept in identity, socialstructure and daily routine etc. After investigating the changes of population and livingpattern of the community, this study summarized the characteristics of its socialstructure and relationships. From the development in past11years, the urbanization ofthis area is more about the living condition rather than social organization way, peopleand life pattern. Besides, the participation of local residents is pretty low.
