Traditional minority sports, as an important part of China’s socialistsports and a valuable cultural heritage of the Chinese nation, is getting more and moreattention from the central government and local governments. More and moreinstitutions and individuals, especially the academic researchers, pay their attention toresearch and develop the various traditional minority sports. Over the years, throughthe efforts of the central government, local governments, and all walks of people, withthe increasing investment from all walks of way and scientific management, thetraditional minority sports in ethnic villages has well-developed.Since the1990s, China’s rural tourism has developed rapidly. Cultural ecologicalvillage, a place where traditional minority sports is getting development rapidly andwell-deserved, is one of the important forms of rural tourism. The integration modelwith the national culture, tourism and traditional national sports provides goodconditions for the development of traditional minority sports.Cangyuan is one of the two Wa Autonomous Counties in China. WengdingWa Cultural Eco-tourism Village in Mengjiao, Cangyuan, as one of the first50charming tourism villages in Yunnan province, a place well-known as “the lastprimitive tribes”, one of the famous historical and cultural villages in Yunnanprovince and top ten beautiful villages in Lincang city, was listed in intangiblecultural heritage site by Yunnan province. In March2011, Wengding Village wasawarded the national AAA level scenic spots by China National TourismAdministration. The village won “China Cultural Industry Award---one of the TopTen Rural Cultural Industry villages” in2012;“China’s most Beautiful Villages”,“China’s Top Ten Resort in Summer” in2013.The richful cultures and beautiful and unique landscape increases and enriches the development of the traditional Wasports.The article, based on the study of the traditional Wa sports in Wengding WaCultural Eco-village, Cangyuan, Lincang, using the SWOT analysis, literaturematerial method, interviewing method, questionnaire survey method, mathematicalstatistics method,will do a further research on the traditional minority sports and putforward positive suggestions for improving the development of traditional minoritysports.Research results show that:1.There are rich and various sports resources in Cultural Eco-villages. Weshould take the ecological measures to protect the resources and make the most out ofthem to promote the development of traditional minority sports.2. National Cultural Eco-village is the cradle and carrier of the traditionalminority sports and the national culture, which shows us the development oftraditional minority sports, the variety of the eco-culture and the promising tourismeconomic development in ethnic villages.3.There is a weak point for the development of traditional minority sports inNational Cultural Eco-village, which is low-developed, low-industrialized and lowlevel of market.4. There is short of hand for the development of traditional minority sports inNational Cultural Eco-village, which will minimize and maxmize the development oftraditional minority sports in ethnic villages.5. There is a promising future for the development of traditional minoritysports in National Cultural Eco-village. With the economic development and theimprovement of infrastructure in Cultural Eco-villages, we will get a great chance todevelop the traditional minority sports in ethnic villages.The main strategies as follows: We should adhere to the ecological protectionto the rich and various sports resources; take sustainable development as the firstpriority; increase the investment of the traditional minority sports; improve theinfrastructure in Cultural Eco-villages; make the most out of the sports resources inCultural Eco-villages;build a efficient system to train professionals for developmentof the traditional minority sports in ethnic villages; adhere to the scientific way of “the government-led, institution and individual-interacted, expert-guided, resident-participated”.
